Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Know First collects, how we use it, and your choices. We've tried to keep it plain and short.

1. Who We Are

Know First is an email alert service operated as a sole proprietorship by Noah Parker in Georgia. Contact us at hello@knowfir.st or by mail at:

Know First PO Box 170082, Atlanta, GA 31117

2. What We Collect

What you give us directly:

  • Email address. Required to deliver alerts. This is the core piece of data we hold.
  • Subscription preferences. Which feeds you subscribe to (e.g., EDGAR filings, FOMC statements).

What we collect automatically:

  • Basic email analytics. Our email provider (AWS SES) may log whether an email was delivered, opened, or whether a link was clicked. We use this to confirm delivery and improve reliability, not to build advertising profiles.
  • Service logs. Standard server/infrastructure logs (timestamps, request metadata) retained for security and debugging. We don't log browsing behavior in detail.

What we do NOT collect:

  • Payment card data. That's handled entirely by Stripe, Inc. under their own privacy policy. We receive only a Stripe customer ID and subscription status from Stripe, not your card number, CVV, or full billing address.
  • Your trading activity, brokerage accounts, or portfolio.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we hold to:

  • Deliver the alerts you subscribed to.
  • Send transactional emails (subscription confirmations, billing receipts, policy change notices).
  • Manage your subscription and handle support requests.
  • Improve the service (e.g., understanding which feeds get the most engagement).
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your email address to send marketing emails from third parties. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

4. Service Providers

We share information with third-party providers only to operate the service:

These providers are contractually required to use your data only to provide the service to us and not for their own marketing or sale purposes (subject to their own terms).

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use Plausible Analytics for basic website analytics (aggregate visit counts and conversions). Plausible is privacy-friendly and cookieless: it sets no cookies, collects no personal data, and does not track you across other sites or share data with ad networks. We serve it first-party (proxied through our own domain), so no data is sent to a third-party analytics host from your browser. The data we see is aggregate and non-personally-identifiable.

In production, our site also loads advertising pixels from Google (Google Ads) and Reddit. These are third-party scripts that set cookies and are used to measure ad conversions (for example, when a visit leads to a sign-up or a paid subscription) and to build audiences for retargeting. They may allow Google and Reddit to recognize you across other sites. These pixels load only on our production site (knowfir.st) and are not active in our development or testing environments.

6. Data Retention

We retain your email address and subscription preferences for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to handle any billing disputes or re-subscription requests. Standard service logs are retained for 30 days.

If you delete your account and request deletion (see Section 8), we'll remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records we are required to keep for tax purposes).

7. CAN-SPAM Compliance

All marketing and transactional emails we send include:

  • A clear identification that the email is from Know First.
  • Our physical mailing address: PO Box 170082, Atlanta, GA 31117
  • A one-click unsubscribe link in every email footer.

We honor unsubscribe requests promptly (within 10 business days, as required by law, but typically within 24 hours).

8. Your Rights and Choices

Unsubscribe. Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also manage preferences through your account settings.

Access and correction. You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@knowfir.st.

Deletion. You can request deletion of your account and personal data by emailing hello@knowfir.st. We'll confirm receipt and complete deletion within 30 days (subject to any legal retention requirements).

Subscription cancellation. Canceling your subscription via the Stripe Customer Portal stops future billing but does not automatically delete your account data. Email us if you also want your data removed.

9. California Residents (CCPA Good-Faith Notice)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with additional rights. Know First is a small operation and may not meet the CCPA's applicability thresholds (fewer than 100,000 consumers, no sale of data), but we want to honor the spirit of these rights regardless:

  • Right to know. You can ask what personal information we've collected about you.
  • Right to delete. You can ask us to delete your personal information.
  • Right to opt out of sale. We do not sell personal information.
  • Right to non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@knowfir.st with the subject line "CCPA Request."

10. EEA/UK Residents (GDPR Good-Faith Notice)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you may have rights under the GDPR or UK GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, erase, or object to processing of your personal data.

Our lawful basis for processing your data is contract performance (delivering the service you subscribed to) and, where applicable, legitimate interests (service security and improvement).

To exercise your rights or lodge a complaint, contact us at hello@knowfir.st. If we cannot resolve your concern, you have the right to contact your local data protection authority.

11. Children

Know First is not directed at children. Given the financial content nature of the service, we recommend it only for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. Contact hello@knowfir.st if you believe a child's information has been collected.

12. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the personal information we hold, including access controls and encrypted transmission. No internet service is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version.
