Census retail sales alerts by email

Live now Advance Monthly Retail Sales from the Census Bureau the moment it publishes, with an AI read on the consumer-spending trend and what it means for growth and Fed policy.

Why this feed exists

Advance Monthly Retail Sales is the government's fastest official read on consumer spending, published roughly two weeks after each month ends. A surprise miss or beat resets growth expectations in minutes — a soft July 2026 print (-0.6% versus +0.1% expected) drove the same week's biggest consumer-spending growth scare, with no feed carrying it before this one.

What each alert includes

The release headline the moment Census publishes it, a link to the official release, and a Market read on how the month's print compares to the prior trend and consensus, and the plausible transmission to growth expectations, consumer and retail equities, and Fed policy.

What we filter, honestly

Census's Economic Indicators feed carries every release the Bureau publishes — retail sales, home sales, wholesale trade, business formation, the trade balance, and more. This feed alerts only on the Advance Monthly Sales for Retail and Food Services report, and it ignores every other Census release on that feed.
